It’s not something you see every day. Two bagpipers leading a parade of kids in neon safety vests and adults in T-shirts around the harbour of Arendal.
But it’s Arendalsuka, the day was sunny and warm, and it seemed like a good way to advertise tomorrow’s main GRID-Arendal/Hold Norge Rent event, Den globale kampen mot marin forsøpling (The Global Fight Against Marine Litter).
It was a team effort. Children and caregivers from Soria Moria, a local barnehage (kindergarten) carried flags as GRID-Arendal staff in t-shirts handed out flyers, led by Managing Director Peter Harris and Kenny Valentine on the bagpipes.
Although bagpipes aren’t a Norwegian tradition (and neither are kilts) the parade got a lot of good response. Photos were taken. People waved. The kids had fun.
